In between auditions and gigs, Hayley has been keeping sharp with the Living Radio troupe founded by Robert Gonyo, performing live readings of original short plays inspired by recent news events.

Every month, Robert Gonyo emails us asking if we'd like to sign up for a role in Living Radio, where we get only a weekend to write, direct and act in a mini radio play. He has been running this troupe for over 20 years now, and invited me to join after closing Memory of Water at Stella Adler last spring. Living Radio is not only a fantastic way to stay informed, but also a great way to meet artists in the city. The houses I've performed to have always been brimming with cheer, and I absolutely love the chaos of the work that comes out of a 24 hour writing period.

It has been a great way to stay in shape as an actor, too! I'm given a short period of time to make choices on a script, that I will, more or less, be reading cold on stage in front of a live audience -- most of them, fellow performers. There is absolutely no pressure here, so it feels like I'm just shootin' the shit with my friends, making art, and having fun. The repeated exposure to the pressure of performance is something that has helped me relax on stage more and more.
