Hayley was not only acting in this cyberpunk clubs-and-drugs edition of A Midsummer Night's Dream by RiffRaff Theatre Company, but designed the set and props too!

This was my first time acting and designing a show, and honestly, it was a blast. As I get older, I'm starting to feel the limitations of my body. During tech, my back ached after applying the last few strokes to the stage, and then I was walking straight into dress rehearsal. I remember when I was getting my undergrad, my design professor described my course load as "a deathwish", because I was basically streaming two professions. Yes, it was a lot, and it had never been done before by any student in my degree program. To this day, I don't regret it. I look up to artists who do it all, theatre-makers like Robert LePage, who have an enormous footprint on their vision.

This is the artist I've always aspired to be, and to have our director Joe Staton, trust me with such a large part of his vision, was thrilling. These are the types of opportunities I'm excited to be apart of -- both getting my hands dirty in tech, and opening my instrument to perform.

Also, I got a special mention in The Inscriber Mag!
